Kudobox

For law firms

Client testimonials, without the unjustified expectation

A client writes that you won them a large settlement. Published as written, that sentence can be read as a promise to the next person who finds your site — and that is the reading your rules care about.

The rule you are working under

A lawyer shall not make a false or misleading communication about the lawyer or the lawyer's services.

ABA Model Rule 7.1 americanbar.org

The comments to the rule treat a communication as misleading when it is likely to create an unjustified expectation about the results a lawyer can achieve — which is why past results normally need qualifying language beside them. Your own state's rule may go further; several do.

What Kudobox does about it

It marks a promised result before you publish it

Every testimonial is read on arrival. A sentence that predicts an outcome, names a figure, or claims a specialisation is flagged with the reason, and sits in Pending until you decide.

It keeps the permission, in writing, with the date

Your client ticks where you may show their words — website, social media, adverts — and the exact sentence they agreed to is stored beside the testimonial and travels in your export.

It carries your disclaimer under the wall

Write the line your jurisdiction requires once, and it appears beneath your testimonials wherever the wall is embedded.

It removes a detail without rewriting the testimony

A client's phone number, an opposing party's name, a case number: Kudobox replaces that span with [removed] and shows you what it took. It cannot reword the rest — the guard throws the suggestion away if a single word changed.

What it gives you is the thing most firms do not have at all: every client testimonial with its permission attached, read for risk before it reaches your site, and a record you can show if anyone asks.

What it does not do

  • Kudobox does not write your disclaimer and does not decide what it must say.
  • Kudobox does not know your state's advertising rule, and does not claim to make you compliant with it.
  • Nothing here is legal advice. Your bar's rule, and your own judgement, govern.

Your clients already wrote the words

Send one link and their words arrive here instead — with the date, with the permission, and read for risk before you publish.
